Pastrami on Rye. New York. Good cop bad cop movies. Forgetaboutit.

Pastrami has always been the poor cousin to Montreal smoked meat to my mind.

In the absence of MSM it was Pastrami, lettuce, avocado, mustard on rye/multi grain. No doubt about it the meat lacked the deep smoky spicy flavor of MSM but all told not a bad combo.

There has been some caribou begotten in the region recently. Nain hunters had to travel all the way to Hebron [as reported earlier] but more than that report.
Not sure of the numbers of animals [around a dozen] or hunters but is sure a good ways [190 K as crow fly's] and cost of gas and ancillaries would be not for everybody’s liking.

The group the nephew went up with were left Nain Tuesday afternoon and returned late yesterday afternoon. Though I don't think they were in any hurry.

Yesterday some hunters from Hopedale reported back to home they had some deer, sat phones are  becoming indispensable for some.

So the caribou are spread far and wide and in smaller groups it would seem.

To the Hopedale hunt; about 6 people left Thursday for what under ideal conditions would take a 4 or so hour’s ski doo ride to the point of search. Ideal meaning the trail had been broken and no storms etc.
These guys did not return until 6 this morning.

There is a raging blizzard in Hopedale at moment, even the church services have been cancelled.

Not so bad here with flat conditions in light snow and low cloud but the wind has not picked up too bad.
All flights are on hold.
