California gets snow, more than they want, eastern USA and Canada gets more than they want, especially the pedestrians of St. John’s, and we continue to get this clear cold ‘starting to get to you’ stuff.
Getting to people pockets too, they think it is bad down south, well it is, but doubly so in northern climes.
One Blogger of some repute in the big TO muses that it will take a revolution before governments give the consumer a break on taxes on heating fuels [won’t be holding my breath on the revolution any time soon]. But he is correct that something needs to be done and now. Some jurisdictions give breaks on heating oil taxes, NL does not. With the people of coastal Labrador paying some of the highest prices in the country for heating, both oil and electricity, the taxes paid are disproportionate to what the rest of the province pays. I think I serious look has to be made at a tax rebate of some sort for the entire province. But it has to go to the people paying for the heating, not just a rebate to families with incomes below a certain threshold, some of those families may not be paying for heat and light.
I have not been a winner of any sort lately, but when I read about people like this well I say good for them, sure the type who needed the pick me up.
The GD took off for her return to school today, a four month stint this time, we were at the airstrip for a huge and wish her god speed, GD was sporting her multi hundreds of dollar flying glasses, needs them in the glare we are getting sure, though my 10 buck pair do all right.

The only way to become a winner is to buy a ticket. Perhaps that's where I'm going wrong, I always forget to buy the ticket.
It would be nice to win though, then we all could easily afford those high heating fuel prices.
BTW nice pictures of the kids on the step with their spearklers welcoming the New Year.
