Bellycaters.

Plus dog. Not sure of the spelling of bellycaters, Fran thinks this is correct.

I took these pictures this morning, similar conditions to yesterday, little less cloudy is all. Picture to the right is of our tracks yesterday, shows we did not get much snow fall at all.
Update: Thanks to Wayne we have a spelling revision on Bellycaters.
I'm going to go with Bellycadder, that seems to describe these tide produced mounds of ice along the shore.

i think the correct spelling is " BALLICATTER. " as a kid we would pronounce it billy carters but each region probably had its own dialect.

Great blog! I was surprised to find it when I Googled Nain. If you are who I think you are, Stephanie knows me from my summer spent there in ‘91 and you might remember me too. Happy New Year!

Thanks for the kudos Sarah. When I noticed someone from RI googling local names I asked Steph if she new who,“ my friend Sarah” was rely.
Do not remember you, nothing personal, old gray matter not what it used to be. I have close relationship with Steph, so you most likely know who I am.

Happy new year to you and your framily.
