In the freezer zone again.

The sky is a clear as iceberg vodka this morning. Hell of a lot colder, though if you did a Boris things would warm up internally some what.
-27.1 at the house, it is trying to warm up, forecast is for –mid teens for rest of week. There seems to be an invisible shield too, usually on days like this the smoke from wood burning stoves goes straight up, this morning is was staying close to the ground, combine that with the frost in the air and it was a strange experience.
Hope it does warm up for the council workers, they are still trying to locate the water main break, or rather locate a valve to stop the flow to that area, at the moment a good part of the town is without water, or have low pressure. The community clinic is closed, except for emergencies; of course the school is closed all day again.

Yesterday the town was quite lively with kids out playing in snow banks, sliding, teachers going off for a ski doo ride [not that there is anything wrong with that], so all was not lost.

My Hydro bill arrived yesterday too, good news there.

For 27 days I used 1230 KWH. The first 1,000 KWH is billed @ 8.644 cents a KWH. The next 230 KWH is billed @ 13.601 cents a KWH for a total of $142.27 including basic customer [$18.60] use and tax.

BUT, we have the Labrador Coast Electricity rebate. This amounted to $62.54; add the usual $2.00 rebate for paying on the discount date the total due is $77.73.

So I may be burning 600 + $’s a month of oil, but am getting a break on electricity, I wonder if I should look at converting solely to electricity for heat? The power consumed is still generated by oil so the big picture is not addressed, but the parochial picture would be addressed, at least while the government applies the subsidy, then who knows how long that will apply? Conundrums conundrums.
