and after only six people walked the plank.
Carters first Halloween was shortened due to fact his dad [who was on medi-vac standby] received a call to go do medi-vac. Still I feel that its enough junk for a coming up 1 year old.
The travails of "the Dutch" have reached [finely]the provincial media. CBC regional has had some coverage on both radio and Here & Now last evening.
Minister of transport is not looking so cocky now, due diligence indeed.
While Hedderson is taking the blunt of the criticism there are others who played a role in this debacle who deserve a big kick in the rear as well.
Seems officials at CAI Nunatsiavut are suddenly not returning calls.
The minister is scheduled to be on Labrador morning some time soon.
Later after listening to the minister interviewed by Tony Dawson. My head is still spinning, will put up an audio link when CBC puts it up.
Briefly, after government denying there was any freight backlog that non existent backlog has now been cleared up. But if one keeps listing the question is, has it really been cleared up.
After giving assurances all summer that "the Dutch" could handle the the task at hand it now is revealed that the government had held the company in breach back in July and was withholding monies owed.
Who is "the company" in breach. CAI-Nunatsiavut had brought out Great Lakes Feeder lines, the owners of "the Dutch" some time this season. Strange doing that if it was already evident that the vessel was out of it's comfort zone on the Labrador run.
The governments due diligence protocols need re vamping as right at the end of the season the minister more or less admits that all the assurances he received on "the Dutch" were all at sea in the end..
Mean time; it was a busy day around town traffic wise yesterday. After "the Dutch' left port there were many containers and trailers to unload, trucks and smaller vehicles coming and going from the dock all day.
Pity about the dry dusty roads though, I am still grinding grit between my teeth this morning.
My oh my oh my. I just had a phone call from an interested person. That person was just off the phone to a guy at Lewisport marine terminal. That person confirmed to the other person that that just called that the warehouse is chock a block with freight for the Labrador coast, two Astron loads at minimum.
So this confirms my suspicions that the minister is either 1. Not being truthful. 2 Does not know what he is talking about or 3. Is being given incorrect information.
Because how could the warehouse fill up so quickly after being emptied of freight just 5 days ago?
As promised; here is the audio of minister for transport and Tone Dawson. Warning, be sitting down when listening, this guy is blowing smoke better than an old puffing billy steam train.

It sounds like "the Dutch" is about to replace "bomby" in local street talk to signify something that's crappy, i.e "that's a Dutchy skidoo you got there." or "My wife is being right Dutchy to me."
Not to make light of a serious situation. Nain is way too big to rely on one-off ad hoc service from second-rate vessels anymore, and deserves reliable committed and accountable service.
That is a good one OBT, should have thought of it myself: its a dutchy ooh road out there with all that dust.
