Bond,

Well she finely made it into port, hour and a half late but what the heck.
The next three smaller photographs were taken about an hour after she docked.

The plane taking off is only significant in that it has the same livery as the Bond.

One thing that stood out as she pulled too at right angles to the dock in preparation to going astern into the dock.
This is the speed in which she came about and with her bow thrusters working full out came astern to the dock in the time it takes to say Danny Williams is a [pick you own adjective].

With similar wind conditions [45 to 50 clicks] the Astron could not dock last trip she made.

True to form all good things eventually come to an end [it is written into the Labrador marine shipping manifesto] and confusion and disaster reigned.

I do not know how this accident happened, but it blocked the road up to town, all the vehicles had to do a short diversion.
Lot of the palleted freight sitting waiting to be picked up at right.
I am sure there will be lots of anecdotes doing the rounds after things calm down.
Added to the traffic chaos at the dock was the H1N1 vaccination clinic that was taking place at the Community Hall less than 100 meters from the entrance to the dock area.

And it is a good thing today's weather was clear, but windy and cold. A day like Saturday would have really put things over the edge.

Oh, dear. At least they are a consistent lot. Spare no effort to underwhelm. I spent a great deal of time trying to disseminate the transport plans of other NL regions this weekend. In one report, they are planning on the demise of the Bond. They seem to think they can get 1000's of tourist by replacing the Bond with a more tourist oriented ship. I had to check my coffee cup. I thought a bottle of mind altering drugs had fell in the cup.

Apparently they feel they can have them come there, then trundle them off to Labrador. Of course, there was only tentative mention of Labrador having no such facilities to handle them.

Ostensibly, these tourist creatures are to be herded in a Goose Bay Hanger once their funds are separated from them. Well, that's my guess anyway. I'll dig up the link and post it later.

There really is no overarching communication going on. That's fair to say.

brian, when the road in southern labrador connects to goose bay do you suspect the service to northern labrador to be better or worst?

Short answer Wayne is; it will be worse. This is based on historical behavior and taking into account the same players will be involved.
I and others have asked and asked for plans vis a vis vessels and configurations now for several years. No one from NG to the MHA to WST will discuss the issue publicly, so we don’t know what will happen, but rest assured it will be third rate.
