Angles platypus and geese

apropos of nothing, except they are hanging on the window looking forlorn this blizzard y morn.

Thought it sounded windy last night, gusts up to 117 clicks is why. 128 clicks @ 3.14 am.

I wonder what processes the Nunatsiavut Government has in place to garner input into proposed salaries and benefits for its elected officials.

As pointed out in my Health services posts many people in Nunatsiavut are reluctant to put in writing, or in many cases verbalize their thoughts and opinions.

Public meetings or even small gatherings of people would be one way. But then that would be more like democracy, and we cant have that now can we?

So read this package and weep you fixed and low income folks

Brian,

After reading your lasts few posts, I'm pretty sure I have a good idea of what's going on here: there are a lot of people running around Northern Labrador offering 1980s communications solutions to 21st century problems. Northern Labradorians have a lot of social capital in the form of political sense, a sound communications infrastructure, a strong tradition of political engagement, intelligence, and knowledge, to draw on to build a well functioning system of governance. But the public sphere is not being nurtured and engaged in the right and culturally meaningful way. So the disconnect between the people and the elites widens. It CAN be bridged. The internet is the new community hall, the new big house, and has a central role to play, but it also requires the participation of the people in defining a communications and consultation policy to live by.

We have a bingo for OBT.

Will do more follow up on the communication angle when time permits.

The ng assembly elected in 2006 was very quick to give themselves a raise. Not only that, they gave themselves a cost of living increase in 2008 with retroactive pay to 2006. The civil servants haven't received a salary review since 2005, and have no increase for the cost of living.
the rich get richer again.

Maybe the civil servants need to join a union. Their bosses sure are not going to do the right thing by them.
