Bits and pieces of early fall.

With encouragement from a gentleman living down in urban utopia I took Siutik for our first “obedience walk” yesterday. Started out as I thought it would with lots of resistance, but I persevered, ignoring fellow citizen’s looks in the process.
By the time we reached the end of our road we had some form of uniform understanding, not to mention walking a given distance from each other and not running all over the place willy nilly.
After about a half hour of that [took longer than normally would] I let her run free up the hill, frolic in the bushes and willows and the like. While there I discovered some very nice sweet blue berries, and no flies.
The no flies were due to the tumbling temperature and brisk N wind, right in our faces, found it exhilarating actually.
On our way home she was very good, only pulling with moderate strength. One thing I like about Siutik is she all but ignores all the dogs barking at her as we pass. If one is loose then she will want to play, but that was then, this is now.
She did give one last shot at “who’s the boss”. Back at the house I asked her to sit before giving her a dog biscuit, she took a little time before relenting. Still a ways to go, but it’s a start, puppy days are over, or not.

After a five week delay work has re started on the Okalakatiget Society New media Centre.
On commencement [back in July] of laying the form work for the footing the supervisor for the project engineers had reservations about the unsuitable soil conditions, clay and a low area on the lot. It was decided that it was best to excavate and add rock and gravel to act as a firm base, plus act as drainage for any potential water seepage.
I know it sounds weird but we had to bring the rock in from Goose Bay, no suitable grade here. The extra cost was unexpected, but it had to be done and while there are no guarantees in life it should be beneficial in the long term. Geophysical work previously carried out was obviously flawed.

Seems the start of school for all grades is delayed for a day. Starting on Thursday now, not sure why. There is some renovation work being carried out in the grad 5 to 12 school [big school] or it could be some other reason.

Knocked up this nice little morsel for breakfast. Blue berry with bakeapple syrup crepe. The crepe is a concoction of 12 grain and white flour, came out perfect for a change, I usually have problems with crepes and pancakes.
