The vagaries of news headlines.

Two Swedes ditch their plane, or is it a Dane and a Swede, or is it a Dane and an Australian living in Sweden. Jonathan Crow on Here&Now even mentioned a Labrador connection to the crash; they stopped over in Wabush, Christ. Any way a first hand account here.

The good news is they are safe, makes you wonder if there are night vision or infrared goggle used on the search and rescue aircraft, or would they be of any use in those conditions?

Looks like the St.John's city council has found some money to keep a 'pilot project' curb side recycling program going in the short term. It covers a small part of the city, the city wide program is still on hold until 2010. Maybe the increased public outcry may change that date too? Lets hope so.

Rae bows out, Ignatieff secures Liberal leadership. Well that takes some of the interest out of the kerfuffle Ottawa way.
No chance of a NDP/Lib coalition now hope they can find enough seating in the right wing of the house.

A friend of mine was running Atlantic Blue Recycling in St Johns, wonder if she is involved in this pilot project??

Not sure if ABR is involved or not, I think I heard that other private firms had cut back on cardboard and such and maybe some closing. It’s all a little vague with private public entities. I think the curbside program is run by the city, but can be corrected.
Either way this province is way behind on protecting the environment.
