Rare bird in these here waters.

The MV Sir Robert Bond doing a reverse 180 into the dock in Nain 40 minutes ago.

Cant recall seeing her up this way before, must be something more than getting the last of the freight up here too, testing the waters maybe?
According to reliable sources the Aston [she did not make it to Nain this trip] is returning to Cartwright and making another direct trip to Nain.
Not a mention, not a peep, from the people who run the shipping that the Bond was on the way to Nain, just people who had freight on board were notified by fax.
Always something to intrigue the mind!

Lots of weird things happening with marine freight the past few weeks. A few guys who work at the dock in Cartwright were called into Goose Bay to straighten out the mess down there. Apparently it was a shambles at the dock in Goose, freight backed up, being loaded incorectly which leads to slow unloadings and so on. That added to the fact the Bond had to clear ice in Goose two weeks ago while the dock in Cartwright remains ice free until mid to late December. And yet politics states Goose Bay would be the better port!

People who use the marine freight service on a regular basis are saying that this year has been the worst in memory for efficiency.
This comes after last year’s commitment by Coastal Labrador Maine of new policies being put in place to minimize the chaos and confusion.
One was to have a dedicated person in Goose Bay dock to improve loading and such, it never happened. It’s a negative mind set towards the Coastal communities that is the problem, and until better is demanded then it will continue to get worse.
Trouble is the local politicians who have the ear of the people who can effect change have all been co-opted for one reason and another.
Private Citizens who used to kick up a fuse have all but been silenced by insidious threats of reprisals and the like. It is like a despotic third world regime up here.
