The two high schools sit boarded up and the day I took the photos the playground across the road was ominously devoid of happy playing children. There were kids there other days I must add.
Ironically there is a housing shortage in the rest of town with a 2 bedroom apartment renting for 600 or more a month.

600 for rent? We have friends here who rent and it is $1400 a month for a two bedroom apartment. Sounds like a good deal out there!

I guess it’s all relative. Pay scales in GB vary greatly, plus there is a high percentage of under employment to no employment.
Overall considering the amenities and the store choices there really is not much for room for complaint.
I think I picked up on the rent thing from a person who was trying to break out of the situation and into a mortgage but was having some trouble on a couple of fronts doing it.
Rents and cost of living in the north are out of this world, especially your way, but then I think of the Middle East and Africa, it goes back to all being relative
