Experimented with another easy dish last evening [change is as good as a holiday they say], this time baked orzo and butternut squash.

It turned out OK, the squash flavor did not overpower and the creaminess of the orzo was nice, it would have been much better with the addition of Feta cheese, but hey, can’t have everything.

Fran went for the baked chicken, potatoes and gravy, bones with any sort of meat on them is OK with Fran. The photo of the baked chicken is blurred; Fran had knife and fork at hand so I had to rush the shot.

We are in the middle of a winter storm of sorts, though going by the mild temperatures one could question the winter aspect.
Good bit of snow down and more to come, the wetness of the snow may help keep it around with high winds predicted.

The stores are still busy internally sorting out their latest [and last] freight off the Bond. The priority was getting the stuff in out of the elements, then comes the organizing of storage, inventory checks etc, all the while trying to keep up with the depleting stock on the shelves. Not the most ideal system for sure but they have the Provincial Government and the Woodward Group to thank for that.
If it is any consolation it will just get worse [looking at historical data] next year.

I see you have some parsnips on the plate, I absolutely love parsnips, and YoungerSon does too, but OlderSon won't touch them. Quite a strong taste. I had to laugh at the vision of you snapping away as fast as possible while Fran advanced with her knife and fork at the ready!
The tree looks so pretty with all the snow in it. No snow here yet, the weather man in Toronto says that it was the first snow-free November since the 1930's.
