It was a great day for a walk in the park yesterday.
For the want of a park a walk on the ice had to suffice. Sunshine, sparkling snow, no wind, a great way to spend a couple of hours.
Siutik was glad of the freedom to run, though she soon runs out of things to explore and smells to smell out there, she prefers the hills and the woods. When we were back on land she did find something to sniff out, she was not sure what was under the snow.
To anonymous of the Africa claim; care to expand, and a name please.
Yes it is the sea ice, it would be several feet thick at moment, depends on conditions at time of freeze up, then weather patters after freeze up. Nain is protected from the Labrador Sea by several large islands, so the actions of the ocean do not reach us, so the ice can get quite thick.
It is nice and clean Sarah, very enjoyable to be out in it this time of year and with these temperatures.

I love that pic of the village with Siutik running! All that clean snow is beautiful...it gets dirty so quickly down our way.
How thick do you think the ice is when you walk out onto the harbour.
And that's sea ice isn't it... salty!
