I do not know if anyone else feels sick to the stomach after reading these hateful pages but I sure do.
It is incredulous that people can come into a community they know nothing about, that is of a different culture and go into a church of a different denomination and con people into reading this stuff.
Shades of 50 bloody years ago, but it is much worse than when the Newfoundland Government and Moravians did it.
We are supposed to have moved on as society, learnt from passed miss deeds, society is supposed to be more enlightened and forward looking, not this backwardness closed minded mumbo jumbo.

That's no prayer and I'm not sure what their real strategy is but I hope you're successful in making people aware of the atrocity of this "Strategic Prayer Strategy". I think it's terrible.
That's some pretty amazing stuff right there. It looks like a standard form prayer to be used whereever this group encounters an indigenous group it intends to evangelize, with some local tailoring.
The chapel servants must have had a collective heart attack. It must've been difficult for the helper doing the reading, as to stop would've been rude. Ironically, the parallel you drew with the Hebron relocation church meeting is spot on in that sense: once the thing got going people looked for the elders to stop it, but there was no clear authority there. Nain has not had an undisputed boss in a long, long time (Martin Martin?), and the community that he spoke for is in the minority today.
Pentacostalism is very popular in other areas of the north where I have travelled and I am somewhat puzzled by the cool reception it receives in Labrador, because Labrador people have the same capacity for spiritual enthusiasm as everyone else. But I think Labrador Inuit are too smart for this.
We seem as a society to be on a great quest to apologize. That;s fine if the goal is reconciliation between people, or native people and the government, but if the goal is simply more of the old humiliation, I can't imagine why anyone with half a brain would go down this road.
Humiliation is obviously a deeply cherished aspect of the Pentacostalists work in Nain because, after many many years of service in the field, the Nain missionary has managed a handful of conversions. Maybe they think this new sportsplex, plus the Strategic Prayer, will bring on a Great Awakening.

The Pentecostal assembly while not being directly involved was the catalyst for this so called ‘independent’ ministry and all the vultures that he seems to attract like televangelist and now face book evangelists.

Forgive me for using your blog to vent, but it seems you are one of the few people seriously looking at SLM and what they are doing.
Interesting but disturbing material put out by these people. Considering they are all linked in some way or another to SLM who seem too think they can use the people of Nain and their certain misfortunes and tragedies to garner financial support. Just some comments on the various FB notes and other website propaganda. These organizations write in such a way as to portray Nain as some third world country, even admitting on one site that it is done intentionally as to secure more donations. Nain is a vibrant community, and like any other not without its problems. But certainly not as bad as suggested. There are agencies, groups, organizations and services provided that suggestively do not exist according to these sites, and I think if these groups such as SLM, TNA and BPEA sincerely want to help, they should do so not by belittling and insulting the existing aforementioned services, but by assisting and enhancing these services, and prove that they indeed are trying to help the people and not themselves. One has to doubt their sincerity when you look at the extremes they are going to raise money, other factors such as their existing buildings as well as the new ones coming up, as well the amount of travelling that SLM seems to be doing. Someone is paying for this and at the expense of the reputation of the Nain, the people who work for the various service providers and the residents whose ancestors who have made Nain the community that we love.
You can vent all you like, whoever you are.
Wish more people would vent publicly, not necessarily here but in writing to the Nain Inuit Community Government or NG.
