Hankering for something different but light for evening meal.

Leek and yam soup with cheesy scones fitted the bill OK.

Then for breakfast this morning; warm cheesy scones with Bavarian bacon and poached egg.

One of the things Northern does well is bringing in some really nice bacon. This latest lot is in the one piece, you slice it as thin or thick as you like, great taste and very tender.

One thing Northern does not do so well of late is keep up a good supply of deli meats. Then they are not alone on that front.

Mostly sun into the near future with cooler temps again, just keep the wind down OK?

Meanwhile down in the capital the same oh same oh.

Mmm .. might have to try the leeks and yam soup brudder. What do I substitute for yam? Is that sweet potato?

I’m a purist mate, only on toast or crackers [Sao].

I’d like a buck for the times I have been down your way. Back in the day a regular on weekends around Berkley, Warrawong, prawning at Windang and surfing all over, golf at Port Kembla and other courses yadda yadda.

We visited just last June, Wollongong and Windang where my cousin lives. Nice to see you check in.

Yams are sweet spuds for sure Pam. Vicki likes a mixture of ordinary and sweet spuds but we prefer just the one. Lots of recipes on Google but I can give you mine if you like, very simple and easy.

Yes, please, I'll have your recipe. Ta.

Found a Betty Crocker recipe book in Mum's collection. Probably a gift from Vicki. Looked up yam and saw that yam=sweet potato (or kumera as it is more often labelled here).
