Photos of undisclosed establishments in undisclosed location taken surreptitiously.
They were taken late last week after the food mail shipment arrived, the rest of the cloak and dagger may or may not be warranted but I took no chances.
To explain; a few weeks ago a fellow traveler was in one of the local stores taking pictures, a middle management type approach fellow traveler and admonished fellow traveler for taking pictures and said it was no allowed.
I scooped to this deviousness to accommodate a request from a reader in the south, no animosity is intended.
As a matter of fact I thing the pictures are quite flattering, the shelves are well stocked and they are only part of each store, many more shelves and coolers and freezer of goods of all sorts from food to kitchenware to hardware and clothing.
Of course the prices may not be agreeable to everyone on every item, that is why if at all possible, and you plan ahead, it is cheaper to shop on line or by phone.
On the weather front it is still on the cold side. Without the wind it is agreeable but this time of year the wind never gives much respite. Forecast is calling for rising temps after tomorrow, alas no snow of consiquence.

Hi Brian, great pictures but how about the cost? I remember when I lived up above the Arctic Circle that the Northern Store always had a decent selection of fresh produce, etc, but most of us couldn't afford to buy it. :-(
Prices of fresh produce not that extreme here, though I have written much on the food mail and other shipping issues in the past, plus driving politicians and civil servants to distraction.
As to pictures of pricing, that is why the fellow traveler was told off.
Other items are an issue, things like electrical and clothing, Northern often puts the same price on many items as if it was shipped into the high arctic and not Labrador. Example is a 40 inch TV for 1200 bucks and change, ordered in the south you get it here including shipping for 200 less than that, and that is at both stores, Northern and BigLand.
I have done my best to deal with these inequities over the years while elected officials of Nunatsiavut Government site back and do bugger all. Plus our elected folk in the PC caucus have no power and are basically ignored by the island centric folk.
Brian,
Thank you so much. The pictures are fascinating. Even papayas! Could be any small grocery store in suburban Boston.
When in outport Newfoundland ijn '95, there was not such choices, and what fresh produce there was, was battered and bruised.
Hope that you enjoyed your cloak and dagger adventure!
